England's Chris Jordan boosted his chances of playing in the third Test against India by helping Sussex to a 226-run win over Warwickshire.The paceman (3-38) ripped through the top order at Horsham after his side declared on 245-9, a lead of 325.
His victims included Jonathan Trott, who only managed a single following his century in the first innings.
Tim Ambrose made 56, but the visitors were all out for 99 soon after tea, with spinner James Tredwell taking 4-7.The last four wickets went down for no runs in the space of six balls either side of the tea interval, which came after Chris Woakes was superbly caught at slip by Jordan off Tredwell.
Jeetan Patel was bowled by the first delivery after the resumption as Tredwell continued his over and the game ended when Lewis Hatchett ran out Keith Barker, after he was sent back by last man Boyd Rankin.
The victory was Sussex's fourth of the season and lifted them to fifth in the table, 28 points behind leaders Yorkshire, but just as importantly 35 points clear of second-from-bottom Lancashire.
Warwickshire remained in fourth, but a fourth defeat was a major blow to their chances of an eighth county title.
Earlier in the day, off-spinner Patel took 4-84 to improve his seasonal tally to 43 wickets before Sussex brought their innings to an end.
Jordan then reduced the visitors to 9-3 in a destructive spell with the new ball and, although Ambrose hit eight fours in his 160-minute innings, only two other Warwickshire batsmen reached double figures.

"We spoke beforehand about not trying to bowl magic deliveries, but rather bowling consistently in good areas because we knew the pitch would do the rest.
"But I felt good. It was my first proper bowl for over a month and I definitely needed some overs under my belt.
"James Tredwell has bowled really well since he came to us on loan and it was good to see him get his rewards as well."
Warwickshire coach Dougie Brown:
"Sussex outplayed us. We knew the final day would be difficult and to have any chance we needed to get through the new ball, but Chris Jordan bowled a brilliant spell.
"We lost this game on the first three days to be honest. Sussex were better than us in all departments."
