Wenger promises new Arsenal goalkeeper

The Gunners are interested in Colombia and Nice goalkeeper David Ospina and the Frenchman says the club will sign a stopper "for sure" during the summer transfer window

Arsene Wenger says he will definitely sign a goalkeeper this summer as the Arsenal manager continues to bolster his squad.

Wojciech Szczesny is the only senior goalkeeper at the club, with Lukasz Fabianski having joined Swansea City, and the Frenchman admits that the position is in need of strengthening ahead of the new season.

Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy have already arrived at the Emirates Stadium and the Gunners are closing in on a move for Nice keeper David Ospina, along with a loan move for Atletico Madrid right-back Javi Manquillo.

And Wenger has confirmed that he is not finished in the transfer market, having seen his side defeat Boreham Wood 2-0 in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.

"I'm very happy with what I could do until now, it's not over, there's still a long way to go," he told reporters after the victory.

"I can't give you any names because you're never sure you can do what you want but we are still out there to strengthen our squad. I will bring in a goalkeeper for sure."

Wenger would not elaborate further on his plans but says Arsenal will continue to be active in the market, with the club also retaining an interest in Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira.

"Sometimes the players you want are available very late," he added.

"You maybe refer to the Mesut Ozil case but at the same period last year, Ozil was not available. He became available very late. You do the deals that are possible when it's possible.

"This time we could do it early."
