Konta beaten by Nara in Istanbul Cup

British number two Johanna Konta was beaten by sixth seed Kurumi Nara in the first round of the Istanbul Cup.

The 23-year-old slumped to a 6-2 6-0 defeat against the Japanese player, who failed to win a set in the five previous meetings between the pair.

Konta, who is at a career-high ranking of 89, won two qualifying matches to make the main draw in Turkey.

The Australian-born right-hander was beaten in the first round at Wimbledon by China's Peng Shuai.
