Poulter an injury concern for Open

England's Ian Poulter is an injury concern in the build-up to the Open Championship, which begins on Thursday at Royal Liverpool.

Poulter had an MRI scan in Leeds on Monday after sustaining a wrist injury during last week's Scottish Open, where he missed the cut.

The 38-year-old tweeted  the scan was "precautionary but has to be done".

Results are due on Tuesday, but Poulter said there was no sign of a fracture and he had his "fingers crossed".

Poulter, whose best result at a major is his second-place finish at the 2008 Open, said he "jarred" his wrist playing the 14th and 18th holes in Aberdeen last week.
